🕑 Remember siesta — some kitchens may close 2–5pm and don't reopen until 8pm, but this typically doesn't affect restaurants in resort areas. See Tips & Notes.
South coast, closest to the villa

Beach bar · Paella
Our go-to beach bar/restaurant, right near the prime area of Son Bou beach.
Just roll in after a day on the beach or evening meal.
Order a beer or Pomada and enjoy.
Food: Pizzas are good, Patatas Bravas, Calamari, Paella, Sardines, Spaghetti Bolognese. Very casual.

Pizza
Great pizzas and near the Villa. Go by there, order some large pizzas and take them back to the Villa for easy dining on the balcony!
East coast, the capital

Fish market · Tapas
Maó's fish market doubles as a wonderful spot for lunch/afternoon tapas and wine.
Scan the various vendors inside the market for their stunning array of items.
Get a tray and order and grab a table (busy) and great people watching.
Bar
This is a long-standing Maó institution, established in the 1920s.
This is a perfect place to park up if you are done with shopping, pull some chairs around the table and order coffee, beer, tapas and people watch.
It is right in the town center.

Illa del Rei, by ferry from Maó port
After a scenic ten-minute ferry ride from Mahón port, visitors step onto the serene Illa del Rei, where the gallery's carefully restored hospital buildings offer striking exhibition spaces that are both architecturally impressive and thoughtfully curated. Complement your cultural journey with a visit to the Cantina restaurant, known for its excellent food and warm atmosphere.
The old capital, west end

Specialty coffee · Breakfast
Great breakfast and brunch place, right near old town.
Very good coffee and pastries.
Indoor and outdoor seating.

Agrotourism · Finca dining
This is our favorite restaurant on the island. A hidden, and long dirt driveway will lead to a renovated "finca".
Easy onsite parking.
Farm to table. Before dinner, have a walk around their gardens, say hi to the sheep, and check out the chapel and merchandise.
Very chic, upscale. Has a DJ sometimes.
Roasted Chicken is great.
A nice bay, calm sea
Harbourside, best after dark
Restaurant · Harbourside
You have to visit Cales Fonts. Do early evening/sunset.
A small fishing bay, surrounded by bars and restaurants.
This is our current favorite restaurant. Great fish and chips too.
Parking nearby can be a nightmare so budget extra time. You may need to circle the above small streets for a while to find something. Make sure you pin your car location, so you can find it on your way back.
Alternatively, there is a open parking lot a little bit further up (see map location). Just needs a little walk to get to Cales Fonts bay.
South-east coast

Restaurant · Mediterranean
One of our favorite restaurants! A proper menu in a striking whitewashed setting. Fantastic for sunset dining.
Definitely make a reservation.
Get quite a few tapas, especially the pork ribs, Bao Buns, Chicken Skewers. The burgers are great for a main course.
Parking is street parking, you may need to circle around and go up a few streets to find street parking (always put a location pin so you can find the car again!)
South-east coast · cliffside cave bar

Cala En Porter
A bar and nightclub built into a cave carved directly into the cliff face, with terraces stacked above the sea — sunset drinks by day, club by night. No food served.
North coast · steak / BBQ
Central Menorca
